Hey everyone,
You may remember me, I'm from Brisbane based prog band FreeThought. I posted our single on here a couple of months back, and some of you seemed to enjoy it :D. We recently lost our vocalist and we're looking for a new one. If there's anyone on here based in Brisbane, Australia, and loves prog, and can sing, send us a message! Message me here on the forum on on our facebook page, we're looking to hire soon!
We are all 18-19 years old looking for someone of similar age, preferably a high-ish tenor range (for reference our last singer was 22).
Our influences include Frost*, Dream Theater, Transatlantic, Devin Townsend, Tool, etc.
Here's a demo we recorded with our last singer http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5T76bR1yHBY
and our Facebook page www.facebook.com/freethoughtband
We're hardworking and are looking for someone of an equally hardworking attitude. Our plan is to finish recording an EP before starting playing some shows. We're looking for a dedicated vocalist, preferably with skills in lyric and melody writing, who loves prog and is keen to get moving on rehearsing and recording. If you are someone who fits this description, or if you know someone who is, message us please!
Regards,
Soulfire
Hey guys,
It's been quite a while since I've posted on here. I was one of the more active members on here when this forum first started up after the release of ADTOE, but I left for a little while after activity died down a little. Seems like the forum is well and truly alive again now though :D
Anyway, in the time I've been away, I've been an active member on the Jordan Rudess forums and have been keeping up with DT news. I've also been working with my band, FreeThought, on releasing some material, and I'm proud to announce a debut single from us which you can listen to and download for free from us right now. The song is called "Faith in the Faithless" and takes a lot of inspiration from Dream Theater. You should all check it out, you may like it :)
You can listen to it on YouTube here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5T76bR1yHBY
Download the song for FREE off bandcamp here: http://freethought.bandcamp.com/
And like us on Facebook here: http://www.facebook.com/FreeThoughtBand
Have a listen, share it with your friends, let us know what you think :). Enjoy everybody.

Soulfire
Well ladies and gents, looks like i'm the first over the mark to 100 posts.
What is slightly disappointing is that there's not that many people with me. I've been on this forum since it started, and unfortunately there doesn't seem to be too many "regulars" to build up a nice community yet. Hopefully that will come with time, but at the moment this place just seems a little bit more disconnected than some of the other, tighter DT forums like DTF, or Jordan's or James forums.
But anyway, here's to the next person to make it to 100

Game is pretty simple. Post the name of the song you're listening to. There are only two rules:
1) Don't just spam the forum with EVERY song your listening to every time it changes.
2) Don't EVERYONE just post "Bridges in the Sky - Dream Theater". I know on this forum it's bound to happen, but please, SURELY you listen to something else :P.
At the moment for me its:
Still Waters - by Struc/tures
Off the album All of The Above. Some great Progressive Metalcore :P
To all the Australians on here:
Are any of you going to Soundwave next year?
The lineup looks awesome: SOAD, Slipknot, Meshuggah, Lamb of God, and dare I say it, DragonForce (just for gits and shigs). I'm pretty keen on going.
Any thoughts on the lineup? Anyone planning on going?
Regards,
Soulfire
