DT Fans,

Just been to DT's 2012 show in Seoul, Korea.. just a few notes to share my impression..

1. Too short of a show for the money!

In Korea, they agency sold so called the "reserved seats" for 120 US$, so the money does not go to the members directly, but when Mr. LaBrie, in his opening comment that "we will have a good time for the next TWO hours..." , I instantly felt the premonition that this show is not going to be the same DT shows used to be which at least lasted three hours or more...what happened to DT's passion for sevicing eagerly waited fans? They even played Deep Purple's "Highway Star" at one of the Korean shows in the past!

As the last curtain call song "Pull Me Under" ended, the members look determined not to play any more, as they bowed, hand in hand, goodbye to the audience who waited more for more than three years. Looked that they almost lack sincerity.

2. Gradually decreasing musical inspiration

This is a heart- breaking comment for me but I still think their musical acme was in the "Images and Words," "Scenes from a Memory" era and passing through "Octavarium," "Systematic Chaos," "BCSL" era, they gradually lost their musical genius or "kick" that make listener shiver and deeply moved by the pure musical joy. You just don't get that electricity when you listen songs like "Pull me Under," "Panic Attack," and pardon me, that isn't this the reason that Mr. Portnoy left the band?..Musical drought..

In sum, the band still is the best technicians in the world with Mr. Mangini just manic, but why I feel so empty that I could even feel more electricity when I listen to Gaga's "Born this Way," than most of the songs in the new CD..

I hope their turn truly goes to a dramatic direction and reaches to a level with the likes of Pink Floyd, Rush or even today's Frost* or Porcupine Tree.

Hi Bro! Was there a Meet and Greet there in Korea?

I've seen them twice this tour, and I thought they totally rocked..First show was longer, second shorter. I honestly love Dramatic Turn in its entirety..My fave thus far had always been Scenes, but I now listen to both just as much.. I think this CD brought such a fresh feel to it... I'm not a longtime fan, so it may be different for you.. but I am a huge fan and think what they do it awesome.

Please do not misunderstand me, as I have said, they still are the best techinicians on earth. The sound was just PERFECT, and oh- so- tight!

It is just that, DT keeps losing its musical fountain(?) which gives listeners deep impression and chill--- the one you get from great classics like "Comfortably Numb," "Red Barchetta," "Spirit of the Radio," or current songs like "Hyperventilate," " Blackest Eyes," or "Milliontown."

Discerning ears can tell what is trully a "good music."

Man, that's YOUR opinion. To some of us even their newer stuff still gives us chills.

Seriously it's disrespectful to come on their own forum and talk like that of them.

Not to mention, 2 hours isn't good enough for you? Well, excuse them. At their age doing 3 hours show is not an easy thing anymore.

Be grateful that they were even there in the first place. Do you know how exhausting it is to play the same song over and over and over, night after night after night? To say they were lacking passion and looked "determined not to play anymore" is completely out of line.

They have always put fans first, and I guess MP had it right...everything is Never Enough.

I saw them in Austin last year and i completely disagree in every way. Musically they are tighter and better than they've ever been, and on atage they have so much more chemistry and energy than i had seen ever. The new stuff is incredible.

I have read your opinion and agree that they are getting older.. sad.. but in a way, more matured for sure...in their music, too.

I am not insulting DT by any chance, and DT has always been one of my favorites. Don't misunderstand me, this sort of comment is only possible because I really care for them!

I have to disagree, if you're complaining about a 2 hour show being too short, they'd you'd absolutely hate Van Halen! Most concerts by big name bands are usually 1.5 hours these days, and with the prices they charge, yeah I'd have an issue with that.

As with the second part, DT never struck an emotional chord with me either, even back in the day. I've always hoped they'd write their "Spirit of the Radio". But I caught myself with this expectation. DT never will! They are the technical progressive metal masters they are, and I should appreciate them for that. They don't have Neil Peart or Roger Waters writing lyrics for them, it's not their forte.

I wanted to hate Dramatic Turn of Events, but after a few listens, it's grown on me, and I like it. It is what it is, mind blowing musicianship.

Maybe Mike Mangini will have a hand in writing the next album and we'll see some sort of evolution, but don't expect revolution. As a drummer, nobody can touch Mangini. He's THAT good!

So you'll just have to appreciate them for what they are.

Please, Please, Please do not cancel the Beijing show!
It’s a miracle for this country and all the audiences in this country to have DT on stage!
It shall be a legend and biggest pride for all DT fans in China, they are praying for this show!
The organizers of Bejing show is not a big company, but with TRUE PASSION on DT, and being loved and supported by all rock music audiences in China!
