Dream Theater

Ideas for Cover songs
January 06, 2012 10:25:55 PM UTC Post #1

As we all know, Dream Theater loves to show tribute to their influences as a band and they do them incredibly well. I came upon a poll somewhere that asked which songs they should consider, but I'm not sure if the poll would really reach the band, so I though here would be a good place to post ideas for songs. Even if we as fans don't know all the bands you guys listened to, it could be fun..

Now we all know DT has done many many covers, medleys, and even full albums during shows, so this thread is specifically for studio ideas.

Personally, I'd really like to hear them play some 'Time and a Word,' 'Caress of Steel,' 'Perpetual Change.' Any Yes or Rush usually will rock pretty hard.

I'm not sure if I would want them to tribute Caress of Steel. Maybe 2112 or Moving Pictures.

Anything by King Crimson, they already did Larks' 2, why not Larks' 1? It's just as good, maybe better imo.

Now that I think about it, I don't think any other band could do 'The Gates of Delirium' from Relayer and do it justice other than DT. I would probably kill to hear them play it.

@comment: Great song Ideas. I love everything from Metallica's ...And Justice for All album.
Distant Early warning is a great song to play on drums. I always have fun with that.

@Ytsejam58: Thanks bud, you too. You already had it or I would have listed songs off of Moving Pics. DT should cover this whole album though.

1.Zebra - Whose Behind the Door?
2.Camel - Lunar Sea
3.King Crimson - Walking on Air
4.Meatloaf - Bat out of Hell
5.Rush - Medley (Red Barchetta, Xanadu, La Villa Strangiato)
6.Yes - Gates of Delirium

And I would be able to die an extremely happy man.
