I watched the whole show just to hear Dream Theaters name mentioned. I didnt hear it!!! I don't know if i missed something or if they didn't show them. Not only were the bands not in the same category of music but the talent level separating the two was night and day as well. Its like asking whats the better/faster car a Ferrari or a Kia!!! Dream Theater is my fav band ever. I have been following them for 15+ years. They are a band that I absolutely respect and am WOWed by. I am just a huge fan of music, Its my life! Im a very big fan of the Foo Fighters as well and have been since they existed, but come on now...cant we for once just give credit where credit is do and acknowledge music and musicians that go above and beyond what the norm is. Bands that don't play for the money or how someone tells them to..But plays for themselves, from their heart and soul with everything they have. One can clearly hear and see the difference between extraordinary talents and just average. I think its time to rethink who and what gets recognized. The Grammy's have become quite laughable! and by watching the show last night some of the acts were a joke! but hey if watching a silly circus act and rewarding it...is what its about then I'm glad Dream Theater is not apart of that. |

Many of the acts were awarded earlier on a streaming site a couple of hours before the main show. The reason is too many categories for the whole show with all the live acts along with them. Just look how many there are. http://www.grammy.org/recording-academy/announcement/category-list You can see the video of DT on the red carpet at http://www.grammy.com/videos/dream-theater |

Im sure there are. Instead of the silly shows and nonsense, how about staying true to what the show is supposed to be about MUSIC and give everyone at least a fair announcement |

That's disgusting if they didn't even mention them. And that sucks I was hoping to see footage when they announced the bands and played a soundbite from their songs. I was curious to see if any fans yelled out for them when they were mentioned. |

While I completely agree with your sentiment, you do have to keep in mind that DT was nominated in a category called "Best Hardrock/ Metal Performance". With that title in mind, it is understandable how the Foo's won the award. If they category was for "Most Talented Musicians", then of course it would be DT (not to say that the Foo's aren't talented). The whole thing with the Grammy's is that it is a popularity contest, everything is based on sales. Talent can be pretty much irrelevant when it comes to these things.
