Release dates for new Platypus album "Ice Cycles"
Updated on 01-20-2000The new Platypus album, "Ice Cycles", is currently scheduled for a release in the US on March 14th, 2000, on Inside Out USA. In Europe, the album will be out on February 28th, 2000. Sound clips and artwork will be available on Inside Out's website within a week.
Platypus II set for February release
Added on 11-18-1999"Platypus, the supergroup featuring Ty Tabor (King's X), John Myung (Dream Theater), Rod Morgenstein (Dixie Dregs) and Derek Sherinian (Planet X) will release the follow up to last year's excellent "When Pus Comes To Shove" in February 2000. The current working title of the album is "Ice Cycles"."

Added on 07-08-1999"Just finished 2 weeks writing and recording with Platypus. Drums, bass and keyboards are complete and Ty is back in Texas doing his guitar and vocal tracks. Hopefully we can get this thing completed and available before the end of the year. Like the first go around with these guys, it was a very musical and socially rewarding experience.We're hoping to do some live performing with the release of Platypus 2.".

Added on 05-23-1999The Platypus 2 recordings started last week, under the work title "Platypie". Things are going great, and half the drum tracks have already been recorded. Two tracks are tentatively titled "Partial to the Bean: A Tragic American three part Quintogy" (a ten minute song) and "Mysteries Unkown".
Japanese release of Platypus
Updated on 05-07-1999The Platypus album, "When Pus Comes To Shove", will be out in Japan on May 28th, 1999. The cover will be the same as the US release on Velvel, and there will be no bonus tracks.
Platypus II news
Updated on 04-15-1999Platypus will begin writing their new album on May 14th, 1999. The band will be rehearsing for a week at Rod Morgenstein's house, and is planning to have the album recorded by the end of June. Hopefully, Platypus II will be out early next year. According to Derek Sherinian, John Myung is still part of the band. Just like with "When Pus Comes To Shove", Inside Out Music in Germany will be responsible for the European release.
Second Platypus album
Added on 03-15-1999Platypus will be back in the studio in May/June, 1999, to record a second album:
"(March 8, 1998 ) King's X will continue their tour throughout March and April visiting most of Europe. They will be off of the road during May and June. Ty Tabor will be recording the second Platypus release during this time. Doug Pinnick is debating a short Pound Hound tour during this off period. King's X will then tour another leg of US dates during July and August."

US release date for Platypus
Added on 12-16-1998The official release date for "When Pus Comes To Shove" in North America is Tuesday, February 9th, 1999. The album will be released by Velvel. There will be no bonus tracks on the US version.
US release for Platypus in January
Updated on 08-18-1998Platypus recently signed a deal with Velvel for the US release of "When Pus Comes To Shove". Unfortunately, the album won't be out until February 1999. The album has already been released in Germany by Inside Out on August 17th and will be available in The Netherlands on August 27th or 28th.
Platypus European release date
The Platypus album "When Pus Comes To Shove" (Sherinian, Myung, Morgenstein, Tabor) will be released on Inside Out on August 17th, 1998 (originally May 25th). The reason for this postponement is that INSIDE OUT now has now more time to promote Ty Tabor's solo album "Moonflower Lane" in Europe.
One of the Platypus tracks, called "Willy Brown" is featured on a sampler that comes with this month's German Rock Hard Magazine. The guys have recently signed a deal for a US release in January 1999.

Hello people!
I just wanted to take the time in the middle of this european tour to let you know about a project that I just completed with John Myung, Rod Morgenstein, and Ty Tabor from King's X.
The name of the band is "Platypus" and it will be out in the stores sometime this summer.
We are all very excited about this project and we would appreciate it if you would spread the word!!

The Platypus album was written and recorded in 16 days. The name of the album is "When Pus comes to shove". It should be released by the end of the summer at the latest, but a draft of the "Platypus" artwork is already available on this site. Here is the tracklisting :

Platypus album finished
(February 23, 1998) Ty Tabor (King's X) has finished recording with Rod Morgenstein (Dixie Dregs, Winger), John Myung and Derek Sherinian (Dream Theater). The band name they have chosen is Platypus. The album title is "When Pus Comes to Shove". It will be released in Europe first, probably before summer with worldwide release shortly after.
Myung and Sherinian on Ty Tabor album
(January 14, 1998) Doug Pinnick has finalized his Solo recording contract with Metal Blade Records. He is shooting to be finished with the album by late Feb. Ty Tabor will be entering the Studio on Feb. 2 with John Myung and Derek Sherinian of Dream Theater, as well as Rod Morgenstein, to record a new record yet to be titled.
